Inis Bó Finne

A call out for a poem that responds to a very special island off my home county of Donegal immediately pulled me in.

I was delighted that my poem, along with two others, was selected by the poet Máire Dinny Wren. I travelled to Inis Bó Finne and read my poem on Sat 26th July at “Cruthaitheacht Chois Fharraige” hosted by Turas Ùr Arts collective as part of Earagail Arts Festival.

A few personal pics below and Turas Úr will likely have some more of the poetry and other events taking place on the day. There was a lovely gathering of people in an Halla Mór for the reading. I managed to walk around the island and loved the wild parts and the beautiful sandy beach. It was a very relaxed day with lots of art planted in various places around the island, along with a documentary film about the island, a children's stop motion animation and other outdoor performances.

Details of the poetry call out were as follows:“Cruthaitheacht Chois Fharraige” hosted by Turas Ùr Arts collective

This call invites both national and international poets to create and submit a piece in either Irish or English that responds to Inis Bó Finne (Inishbofin), Co. Donegal—its landscape, history, mythology, or personal significance. The theme is open to interpretation, but we encourage work that connects meaningfully with the spirit and presence of the island.

Three poets will be selected and invited to travel to Inis Bó Finne to perform their chosen work at “Cruthaitheacht Chois Fharraige” hosted by Turas Ùr Arts collective. The event takes place on Saturday 26th, 2-6pm, Inis Bò Finne Co Donegal.
