Poetry reading at the Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter Literary Festival 2024

Thanks to Annemarie Ní Churreáin for launching 'The Risen Tree' at the Frances Browne Literary Festival and thanks to Celine McGlynn and the team in Stranorlar. It was a joy to launch and read from my debut poetry book at this very special literary festival. Thanks to Poetry Ireland / Éigse Éireann for supporting this event. Great to hear the talk by special guest Nessa O'Mahony.

It was great to meet so many new faces...family and other writers from the surrounding areas including Patricia Herron, niece of the actress & poet Madge Herron. Patricia had launched her own book the previous night in Glenties. Great also to catch up with Claire Cunningham, radio producer extraordinaire. I was also delighted to meet Mary Turley-McGrath & Donnan Harvey from the Letterkenny Cathedral Quarter Literary Festival.

Maybe I will see you in Letterkenny on Sat 19th at 17:30 in Dillons Hotel for a joint poetry reading with Trish Bennett Writer

Cork launch of 'The Risen Tree'

[more pics to follow]

Thanks to Patricia Looney, Thomas Talbot, and all the staff at the Cork City Library, Grand Parade. It was a privilege to launch 'The Risen Tree' in this beautiful and historic building.
Thanks to my publisher, Revival Press, an imprint of the @limerickwriterscentre

It was a bittersweet day in that my poet friend and editor, Dr. Casey Jarrin, was unable to be with me but her insightful appraisal and introduction for the launch of 'The Risen Tree', was delivered to a warm audience by the multifaceted performing artist and songwriter, Ivy Favier, who like Casey hails from the U.S.

This was a special day for me and for 'The Risen Tree', and it was made all the sweeter for having the support of my family, friends, and fellow writers.

A special thanks to Ian McDonagh, @corkcountycouncil Library & Arts Service and to @corkcityarts, to Patrick Cotter & James O'Leary of the @munsterliteraturecentre and Paul Casey of @obheal

And to all of the approximately 70 people who joined to celebrate with me...musicians, writers, dancers and all sorts of interesting human beings from near and far.

Invite to Cork launch of 'The Risen Tree'

'The Risen Tree', my first book of poems, has taken off on its own.

ETA at its next landfall is 15:30 on Saturday 13th April 2024 at Cork City Library. Here, the wonderful words by Dr. Casey Jarrin, poet, editor and educator will introduce 'The Risen Tree' to a Cork audience.

'The Risen Tree' has just been published by Revival Press, an imprint of the Limerick Writers' Centre and Sunday 24th March saw it loosed from its moorings at a joyous launch in the splendid surroundings of The People's Museum of Limerick.

Living as I have been in County #Cork, for the past 38 years, this launch will have the depth of a homecoming for 'The Risen Tree' (and me).

It would be lovely if you would join me in sharing this occasion.

Thanks to Patricia Looney and Cork City Library for showing such warmth to me in hosting this event.

From Dominic Taylor, Director of Revival Press, extracted from his post on Facebook:
Today marked a fabulous celebration as the debut collection of poetry, The Risen Tree, by Bernadette Gallagher was unveiled in a launch event hosted at The People's Museum of Limerick and orchestrated by Revival Press. Poet Orla Fay, graced with eloquence and depth, took the stage to officially introduce the collection, delving into its profound themes and nuances, offering the audience a captivating glimpse into Gallagher's poetic world. Following her, the spotlight shifted to Tommy Collins, the poetry editor at Revival Press, who elucidated the essence of Revival as more than just a publishing house but a vibrant community-driven endeavour.
The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as the audience immersed themselves in the words and emotions woven by Bernadette Gallagher's pen. This collection isn't merely a compilation of verses; it's a testament to the power of language to evoke, provoke, and unite.

For those eager to delve into Gallagher's lyrical universe, the book is now readily available for purchase. Whether you prefer to acquire it directly from Bernadette, peruse the shelves of local bookstores, or browse online through the convenience of www.limerickwriterscentre.com, the doors to this literary journey stand wide open, beckoning all who dare to explore its depths.
